Integrated Risk Assessment

From hazard to standards-compliant warning.

DokuTech Swiss combines risk assessment and operating instructions in one system. Identify hazards, evaluate risks with the risk graph and automatically transfer residual risks as compliant warnings – all per EN ISO 12100.

Why an integrated risk assessment?

In many companies, risk assessment and operating instructions are created in separate systems. This leads to inconsistencies, duplicate work and the risk that residual risks are not correctly transferred to the documentation.

Risk assessment and operating instructions in one system – no media breaks
Residual risks automatically become compliant warnings
Compliance report as PDF evidence for authorities
6 industry-specific hazard catalogues as starting point
AI-powered hazard detection with industry context

Risk Graph per EN ISO 12100

The risk graph enables systematic and traceable risk evaluation. Four parameters determine the risk level:

Severity (S)

Severity of possible injury – from minor (S1) to fatal (S4)

Frequency (F)

Frequency and duration of exposure – rare (F1) to frequent/permanent (F2)

Avoidability (P)

Possibility of avoiding harm – possible (P1) to hardly possible (P2)

Probability (W)

Probability of occurrence – low (W1) to high (W3)

Interactive 4×4 Risk Matrix

The clickable risk matrix enables intuitive risk assessment directly in the browser. Select severity and probability with a click – the system automatically calculates the risk level with color coding according to OS-GVO.

Clickable matrix in the system

Clickable 4×4 matrix: severity (S1–S4) × probability (W1–W4) selectable by mouse click
Color coding per OS-GVO: green (acceptable), yellow (conditionally acceptable), orange (undesirable), red (unacceptable)
Before/after comparison: risk assessment before and after measures displayed in the same matrix
Worst-case analysis: automatic determination of the highest risk per assembly group
Life phase assignment: mini-matrix per hazard card with life phases × user groups

Drag & Drop for Assembly Groups and Hazards

Structure your risk assessment intuitively via drag & drop. Arrange assembly groups hierarchically, move hazards between groups and define interface hazards.

Hierarchical assembly structure: arrange groups via drag & drop with live preview and automatic renumbering
Move hazards: drag hazard cards between assembly groups – statistics update automatically
Interface hazards: define and separately mark hazards at assembly group interfaces
Statistics per assembly group: number of hazards, risk levels and measure status at a glance
Chapter drag & drop: also reorder chapters in the operating manual via drag & drop with automatic renumbering

6 Industry-Specific Hazard Catalogues

Pre-configured hazards as a starting point for your risk assessment

Woodworking

Sawing, planing, milling, sanding – hazards from rotating tools, kickback, dust

Metalworking

Turning, milling, welding, stamping – chips, heat, electrical energy

Food Industry

Mixing, cutting, packaging – hygiene, temperature, chemical cleaning agents

Plastics Processing

Injection moulding, extrusion, thermoforming – heat, pressure, outgassing

Conveying Technology

Belts, rollers, chains, lifts – nip points, crush points, falling loads

Automation / Robotics

Collaborative robots, safety zones – unexpected movements, collisions

From Residual Risks to Compliant Warnings

Residual risks are automatically transferred as structured ANSI Z535.6 warnings:

Signal word

Automatic assignment: DANGER (immediate life threat), WARNING (possible serious injury), CAUTION (possible minor injury)

ISO 7010 symbol

Appropriate warning symbol automatically suggested from the integrated ISO 7010 library

Structured description

Each warning contains: type of hazard, possible consequences and specific avoidance measures

Heatmap Visualization and Trend Charts

Keep an overview of all risks for your machine. Collapsible heatmaps show risk distribution before and after measures, trend charts document the development across revisions.

Collapsible heatmaps: before/after comparison of the complete risk distribution in a compact overview
Trend chart across revisions: visualization of how the risk profile has evolved over multiple revisions
Drill-down by click: navigate from the overall overview directly to the individual hazard
Risk overview per assembly group: color-coded summary of all risks grouped by assembly groups
Deep copy: copy complete risk assessments (all data) and continue as a new revision

AI Design Tips for Protective Measures

NEW

When creating a risk assessment, you define protective measures for identified hazards. But which design details need to be considered during implementation? With one click on the ruler icon, the AI analyses the context – the hazard, the measure and the machine type – and delivers 2 to 4 concrete design tips referencing the relevant standards.

Standards-based recommendations at the click of a button – design tips in seconds instead of manual standards research
Full control: edit, add or delete – customise AI suggestions individually or add your own tips
Automatically in the PDF report: dedicated section with clear attribution to protective measure and standard
Available in all 5 languages: design tips are generated in the current system language (DE, FR, IT, EN, ES)
From editor to customer portal: tips appear automatically in the PDF export and during approval

Referenzierte Normen

EN ISO 13857 – Safety distances (upper and lower extremities)
EN 349 – Minimum gaps to avoid crushing of body parts
EN ISO 14120 – Guards (design and construction)
EN ISO 13849-1 – Safety-related parts of control systems (Performance Level)
EN 60204-1 – Electrical equipment of machines

The AI analysis serves as an aid. It does not replace official standards research or the responsibility of the designer.

PDF and Excel Export with Heatmaps

Export your complete risk assessment as a professional PDF report or structured Excel file – including heatmaps, warning symbols and approval protocol.

PDF compliance report: cover page, summary with compliance level, chapter table with color coding and approval protocol
Excel export with 4 worksheets: master data, hazard list, measures overview and risk matrix summary
Heatmaps in export: before/after comparison of risk distribution as visual graphic in the PDF
ISO 7010 warning symbols: all assigned warning symbols included as SVG in the export
Audit trail: complete change log with date, editor and revision status

Compliance Report as PDF

The automatically generated compliance report documents the complete risk assessment:

Complete list of all identified hazards
Risk evaluation with risk graph results
Documented protective measures (3-step method)
Residual risks with reference to warnings in operating instructions
Standard references (EN ISO 12100, ANSI Z535.6, ISO 7010)
